do mention grease but it wouldn't hold for me, the washers and the bushing fell out every time I angled it in position. I cheated by cutting very very thin strips of duct tape, running them partly through the bushing, around the washer, I didn't make a complete loop of tape. I used 2 strips. When I got the shifter in position with the bolt through, some tape was pushed out and I was able to remove it. The instructions simply say "install the new shifter" brilliant! I have driven it a few times since and there are no issues, I like the new shifter, it shifts well.
